Varazze
Varazze, the capital of surf in Italy.
In the 60's when the railway line was build they discharged the stones into the sea, forming the "barrier" with the result of exaggerating the waves in the small bay. The province of Savona decided to build a pier to expand the underwater reef to get higher and more powerfull waves and prevent erosion.
The effect has been so significant that surfers and fans arrived at Varazze by thousands and international competitions are held.
This winter (2012) I brought my job to Varazze (I skipper a sail yacht) and have fun with the guys shooting both stills and video.
