After struggeling to take some shots on the tripod on the rocks in the first light I decided to turn back and go on land. This composition was taken at "peccori al mare".bumped up clarity and vibrance just a bit to make the colors pop.

Magma!Eruptions are very frequent on Stromboli, one of Europe's most active volcano's. When we passed by just for this we were pretty lucky to catch this small one!It is not the first time I pass Stromboli. The volcano is a waypoint in the Middle Sea Race and during the night always spectacle!

Still shooting open in the first light with my 50mm prime, dailing down the ISO. In the background Stromboli. The saying goes "red in the morning, sailors warning", but it turned out a quit day.Pulled up clarity and vibrance and added a small graduation filter to the sky to darken the clouds.

A nightshot, handhold.I wanted to see what I could get shooting freehand from a dinghy. Not only am I moving, also my subject. btw That makes me think, in these conditions I should use the active switch on Nikon VR glassI got 1/50 sec. with my aperture wide open at ISO 800. Not sharp, obviously. Noise too, cleaned it up with Nik Dfine for PS. Back in Lightroom I found a preset from Matt Kloskowski, named "Red Max Payne", which is a split tone on the red and orange chanels.

Ok nothing spectacular here but just that I run down to take my Nikon and shot this feller in autofocus. My camera did not a bad job, considering this dolphin was pretty far away.Note that this has been cropped to 50%

I found this very cool spot on the rocks which I sure would like to try in stormy weather! The city lights reflecting on the clouds is from Genoa.

I left home when I saw these clouds (looks like altocumulusses) forming and decided to give Camoglia another shot, such a photogenic place!
<br />I shot multi exposures that night as a would like to experiment more with HDR, but I found that my Lightroom adjustments on the correctly exposed image where almost equal to the HDR. A little more flat in the shadow areas, but less hassle and these fast moving type of clouds don't deserved to be blurred anyway. Conclusion: I don't think you gain something shooting for HDR at twilight.

I have been told that the water from this fountain is very drinkable.Split toned in Lightroom to get a more golden effect, the fountain was painted in forest green, very Italian.
