Galewarning for Rolex Sydney Hobart Race
After the gale warnings for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Race and one day before the start I downloaded this gribfile from windfinder.com

It is still possible at this range that the low pressure system will be closer to the New South Wales coast, and if that eventuality (...)
Delivery ends up in nightmare
What a terrible night!!
Yesterday in the afternoon I left of Lavagna delivering a classic yacht with her owner to Piombino.
We first followed the coastline heading East to La Spezia. There where strong gusts from the mountains, but when we passed La Spezia by night the sky cleared open and the wind was back to a steady 20 knots in open sea. We had a good run for a few hours under engine and unfurled jib. When the Gorgona island doomed up in the night at around 01.00 the wind (...)

Job interview in Lavagna
Tomorrow I have a job interview on "Il Moro di Venezia" in the port of Lavagna. A while ago I was tipped that current skipper Carlo is looking for a replacer and already had a few chats with him with a visit on the boat.
The yacht is build in 1976. Being the first one (I) in the "Moro di Venezia" history, she is of special value. Although you can't notice from the outside she is build in wood and just (...)

Dayworking on My Song
This week I will be giving Paulo and Brian a hand day working in Rapallo on "My Song". Their first mate Thomas is on vacation to Argentinia.
On the job list: removing all gear and sails from the boat, including packing the main sail and the furling genoa. Transport of the dinghy and replacing the forstay and Tuff Luff.
Next week we'll sail the boat to La Spezia with probably a week more work in the shed there. Nice to be working with my buddy Brian again.

Windsurfing in Hyres, France
Strong winds in Santa Margherita made me check out the meteo on the internet. First I thought about Garda Lake, but a quick phonecall learned me that there are not surfclubs open this time of the year to rent the material.
Davide, also a windsurf enthusiast, tipped me Hyres in France. When I saw I good +25 knots of wind in the Golfe du Lion on the windmaps it didn't took long to rent a car and leave a few hours later. We stopped over to sleep in Antibes. Luckily the Tai restaurant was (...)
